Blogging for Bucks

There are frequent emails that flit through my inbox offering positions making money from my blog, IF I am willing to pay for their list of directories that tell which blogs are searching for writers. At times, I have been tempted by this offer to save myself some legwork, but there is always that niggling doubt in the back of my mind-what if the list only has opportunities that aren't open to Canadians?

The great thing about blogging is writing = residuals. Unlike being paid once for fixing a loose door knob, writing can pay over and over again. One blogger received money as a result of an article he wrote 20 years ago.

There are several methods of making money by blogging.

1) Put together a blogger blog and insert adsense using the adsense tool. when I started blogging, this was the easiest blog type to set up.

2) Sign up for affiliate programs and include links within the text of your blog, or
place banners on your site.

3) Offer a free newsletter to readers in which you place advertising.

4) Use your blog as advertising for your offline business. For example, a veteranarian might write a blog about pet care.

5) Use a blogsite, such as Zenzuu, that shares its revenue with its members. Zenzuu is a social networking site like Youtube, but it shares 80% of its profits with active members.

6) Write blogs for blogsites that pay for your writing.

Once you get your blog set up, you'll want to increase your number of readers. More traffic= greater chances of getting bucks from your blog.

1) Tell everyone you know about your blog. Link a second Q & A blog to your main blog and write answers to questions people ask. Then, let them know when you've posted some info on your blog that they may find helpful.

2) Make sure your blog is registered on Google and other search engines and include lots of tags (labels) in your posts. (You can also increase the speed (frequency) at which Google crawls (looks at) your blog. Haabaa is another search (human-edited) engine to which you can submit your blog or website (scroll down to the free option).

3) Ask other bloggers to write about your blog. A good approach is to review someone else's blog and send them a message to check out what you've written.

4) Some sites offer the opportunity to place a link on their site in return for you placing their link on your site (reciprocal links). One such site is click2shoppe.com. Be sure to chose partner sites with similar or compatible products. (You will probably want to avoid competitors.)

5 ) Write articles for e-zines that allow you to include a link to your blog. Some zines I write for include: include kawarthatoday.com, eZineArticles, and eHow.

Start a blog today that will bring bucks to your inbox!

Now, if your feeling really energetic, you might try your hand at other writing projects. Check out my blog entry: Write your way to Riches.
